LAUNCH ULTIMATE 65
Ultimate Frisbee is coming to District 65!


BENEFITS OF ULTIMATE

  • Builds foundational skills. Improves throwing, catching, running, and agility skills, which transfer to many other sports.

  • Non-contact. One of the few non-contact team field sports.

  • Low cost. Requires just a disc and a few cones.

  • Play anywhere. Play inside or outdoors. Conduct multiple games simultaneously on a single field or court. Adjust team size to meet class sizes and skill levels.

  • Self-officiated. No refs! Players resolve their own disputes, building conflict resolution and advocacy skills.

  • Inclusive. Welcomes players of all abilities, experience and skill levels, and genders. Offers flexible team formats that create opportunities for everyone to participate and compete.

  • Fun! Ultimate is a blast to play and watch.


WHAT CAN I EXPECT AS A PARENT/CAREGIVER?

  • More PE classes (K-8) introducing the sport, including guest coaching by pro and elite players.

  • Equipment in PE classes that meets your children’s skill level, including softer discs for beginning players.

  • After-school/weekend pop-up ultimate events at each of the four middle schools, open to all D65 students.

  • This Fall, an after-school ultimate discovery club at Dewey. (Dewey students register through Right At School.)

  • This Spring, a middle school league consisting of teams for Chute, Haven, King Arts, and Nichols, plus a district championship tournament.

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

  • Volunteer to coach a team. Prior coaching experience or knowledge of the sport is not necessary. We’ll train you and be there to support you.

  • Volunteer to help a team or coordinate an event. We have fun opportunities even if coaching isn’t for you.
