Chicago Union Cares
2026 Coaching Fellowship
Professional Development, $500 Stipend, $500 Team Equipment/Needs Stipend, Chicago Union Tickets
Application deadline is January 3, 2026 11:59 PM CST
Chicago Union Cares will award up to five annual fellowships to eligible coaches of girls, women, and mixed ultimate teams. Each fellowship carries a $500 stipend for the coach plus a $500 stipend to equitably offset team and player expenses. During the tenure of their fellowship, coaches will be provided opportunities for enhancing their coaching skills and to meet other fellows. Coaches in the fellowship will also receive two tickets to every regular season home game of the Union. In addition, they may select one regular season Union home game for a team outing; every member of their team will receive three tickets to that game.

Individuals are eligible to apply if they coach a girls, women, or mixed Ultimate Frisbee team based in the state of Illinois. To be considered a “team” for purposes of this fellowship, the players should be practicing regularly and have opportunities for competitive play. Generally speaking, that means the players will participate as a group in at least two tournaments or compete in a league with five or more regular season scheduled games through a school, college, park district, or club. Most players on the team should be middle school through 22 years of age. Coaches of mixed teams with a predominance of girls/women on their roster will be considered stronger candidates for the fellowship than those with predominantly male rosters.
-
The Board of Directors of CUC, with input from the CUC Player Advisory Board, will select the coaches who are awarded fellowships.

Applications are due January 3, 2026. Applicants will be notified no later than February 15, 2026 if they have been selected. Please note the application requires proof of the applicant’s coaching position and two references. Applicants invited into the Fellowship will have two weeks after being notified to review and, if they so choose, accept CUC's letter agreement.
